Ahmed is a seasoned Egyptian Monitoring and Evaluation Professional (More than 7 years) with a proven track record of collaborating with government entities, non-profit organizations, various UN agencies including UNDP, ILO, UNICEF, FAO, as well as NGOs. His extensive expertise encompasses data management, visualization, performance management, and leadership. Ahmed has conducted multiple evaluation studies focusing on livelihoods, youth employment, and gender themes in diverse rural and urban contexts across Egyptian governorates such as Cairo, Asyut, Alexandria, Sharqia, Sohag, and others. Throughout these evaluations, Ahmed has adeptly employed a range of mixed methods and approaches, including the Results-based approach (Theory of Change-based approach), participatory approach, contribution analysis, and utilization-focused evaluation. Notably, Ahmed has contributed to the development of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems for national Strategic plans, including the National Anti-Corruption Strategy and the Strategic plan for the Institute of National Planning. His experience also includes participation in the evaluation of the Country Strategic plan for UNDP as a national consultant. During his experience with the ILO, Ahmed gained valuable expertise in evaluating projects at both national and regional levels. Notable projects include the mid-term evaluation of the EYE-FORSA project, the final evaluation of the ILO project "Employment for Youth in Egypt (EYE): Providing a Reason to Stay" funded by UNTFHS, the final evaluation of the UCCD project, and the mid-term evaluation of the regional ILO program "Mainstreaming Employment into Trade and Investment in the Southern Neighborhood (METI)". His work with the ILO allowed him to assess various capacity building approaches such as GET AHEAD, SIYB, JSC, and financial education. Utilizing key informant interviews (KIIs) and focus group discussions (FGDs), Ahmed engaged with master trainers, facilitators, government officials, representatives from MSMEDA, and beneficiaries, providing valuable insights into gender dynamics and power structures within families concerning the acceptance of women and young girls in the workforce. In addition to his expertise in evaluating projects related to protection and gender-based violence, Ahmed has contributed to consultancies for various INGOs, evaluating programs focused on combating sexual and physical violence, human trafficking, and gender-based violence, including female genital mutilation (FGM) and early marriage, targeting both Egyptians and refugees. Furthermore, Ahmed played a pivotal role in the Leaving No One Behind Formative Evaluation, assessing gaps in UNDP programs for individuals with restricted access, culminating in the submission of two summary papers highlighting findings and lessons learned with a specific focus on environmental protection, economic empowerment, governance, and gender equity.
