Alpha Habib Bangura is a multidisciplinary development professional with over 6 years’ experience across education policy, digital transformation, and human capital development. Leading the implementation of the Freetown Digital Economy Cluster, supporting the city’s goal of creating 120,000 digital jobs for youth and women by 2028 through inclusive innovation. Scaled up tablet-based learning from 45 to 65 schools in partnership with Rising Academies, while securing new partnerships (e.g., Teacher in a Box with Fig Tree Foundation) to enhance digital access in classrooms. Designed and executed the first Annual Mayor’s Hackathon (Feb 2025), focused on tech solutions for urban resilience in informal settlements, with three civic-tech solutions now in early-stage incubation. Helped young participants launch business ideas and improve their employability, contributing to national workforce development goals. ● Curriculum Localization (UNICEF UPSHIFT): Co-consulted with ProIdealist for Restless Development Sierra Leone and UNICEF on localizing the global UPSHIFT life-skills curriculum, adapting it to the Sierra Leone context. This program benefited 250 adolescent girls in informal settlements, equipping them with social innovation skills and confidence to address community challenges. ● Civic Engagement Training: Trained 50 youth from seven civil society and community-based organizations on impactful civic engagement and effective communication. This series of workshops strengthened youth-led advocacy and community organizing, aligning with just transition principles and encouraging democratic participation. ● Career Development & Job Placement: Led an intensive Career Development Crash Course for 19 unemployed graduates, covering CV writing, interview skills, and personal development. The Global Challenges program at African Leadership University in Rwanda is an innovative, mission-driven bachelor’s degree designed to equip students with the skills and mindset to address Africa’s most pressing developmental issues, from education and healthcare to climate resilience, governance, and infrastructure. The Certificate in Public Leadership and Policy (CPLP) is a rigorous 10-month (or 33-week) leadership development program delivered through a hybrid virtual learning environment, aimed at equipping aspiring public leaders with the knowledge, skills, and values essential for effective and progressive governance.
