-September 2025
As a Lead Data Assistant at HOPE Worldwide Kenya, I helped provide strategic coordination and oversight of all data management functions within the DREAMS program. My role focused on ensuring the collection, analysis, and reporting of high-quality data to inform evidence-based decision-making, strengthen program performance, and support continuous quality improvement across multiple sites. In this position, I helped coordinate a team of 16 Data Assistants and 16 Locum Data Assistants, serving as the main liaison between field teams, M&E officers, and program leadership. I spearheaded the digitization of 64 out of 73 program tools, a milestone that enhanced data accuracy, efficiency, and security. I developed and deployed digital data collection tools using KoboToolbox for new program areas, including Mental Wellness, HPV, and Tuberculosis interventions. As the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) focal person, I coordinated initiatives that improved program layering outcomes from 72% to over 90% within a year. Additionally, I supported project framework and indicator development, contributing significantly to the Interpersonal Therapy for Groups (IPT-G) framework within the DREAMS logic model. I helped prepare comprehensive data reports for donors, partners, and government stakeholders, helped design Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training manuals, and facilitated Data Quality Assessments (DQAs), using findings to inform training and mentorship activities. I also documented lessons learned and best practices to strengthen institutional learning and program efficiency. Among my key achievements, I successfully led the transition from paper-based to digital systems, significantly reducing data turnaround time and improving data integrity. I enhanced team performance through structured supervision, mentorship, and problem-solving, which resulted in more accurate and timely reporting. I also played an instrumental role in advancing CQI outcomes, optimizing M&E systems, and fostering innovation in community-based monitoring and evaluation practices. Through this role, I developed and applied strong skills in data management, analysis, and visualization (using Excel, Power BI, Python, and R), database handling (DHIS2, KenyaEMR, DREAMS database, CPMIS), M&E frameworks, and leadership and capacity building, ensuring data-driven decision-making remained central to program success.
