Davis Okeyo Bio Davis Okeyo is a development professional with a Master’s Degree in Research and Public Policy, Maseno University, Post Graduate Diploma I/II in Project Management (2011), a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics (Maseno University, 2007), and Senior Management Training (Kenya School of Government, 2021), Certificate in Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation and Results Based Management and Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CRSV). Other acquired qualifications include skills on Safeguarding Essentials (Kaya Connect, 2024), (TOT training in child protection, Advanced TOT training in gender, power and development, TOT training in conflict resolution, TOT training in Participatory Rural Appraisal, and TOT in Trauma Counseling. My other competencies include using participatory approaches in power analysis - gender, political economy, and institutional – Programme design foundational approaches such as, Participatory Action Research and reflection sessions, Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and various research methods. Apart from being a seasoned facilitator, I have on several occasions contributed to programme funding over the past 12 years while working with various organizations in the non-profit sector and state agencies. Recently, contributed to the book on Gender and Social Norms in East Africa (Makerere University). I also present success history of influencing policies at national and regional platforms. For over 18 years, I have led the development, design, and management of Rights Based projects and programmes; and contributed to strategic thinking in the various organizations, given my background in community development, programme design, development and management; and monitoring, evaluation and Learning among other fields. Currently working with National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC), I have been part of the core teams that designed the Commission’s Theory of Change and Strategy (2024-2027). I have also contributed to National Levels Consortiums and Movements to develop strategic and resource mobilizations plans and safeguarding policies. Within Eastern Africa, I have supported Outcome Harvesting for the YouLead program, research and evidence generation towards programme development around child exploitation issues and informed partnership decisions and fundraising among five countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Zambia) for instance: 1) Economic Recovery Strategy for Zambia (Post-COVID 19 Pandemic). My contribution during the Participatory Situation Analysis formed part of development of Plan Kenya Country Strategic Plan 2009-2014 and ActionAid Strategic Plan with the ultimate aim of ending poverty and injustice while directing focusing on the pillars of Promoting the participation and control of women and excluded groups in institutions and mechanisms of governance, democratize and deepen the accountability of; states and their institutions, corporates, multilateral institutions and civil society, to the people at the local, national and international levels, and promote the realization of rights and justice through the monitoring of governance, human rights, and development service delivery and by supporting and strengthening peoples‟ struggles to claim rights and justice at all levels. Finally, I am a pioneer and influencer for designing and development of Women Economic Empowerment Toolkits (2025), Gender Mainstreaming in Poultry Value Chains in selected Governance structures in Kenya (2024) and Safeguarding in athletics Training Camps in the North Rift of Kenya to protect athletes and other participants from abuse, harassment, and exploitation.
