Subject Dear Hiring Committee, I am writing to express my interest in the position of Unlocking Opportunities Project Officer with Humanity & Inclusion (HI) in Kenya. With over 8 years of experience implementing community-based development and livelihoods programmes in partnership with government, civil society, and community actors, I am strongly motivated to contribute to a project that advances inclusive economic empowerment for youth with disabilities, particularly young women. I have extensive experience supporting the day-to-day implementation of donor-funded projects, ensuring coherence between project design and field-level execution. In my previous roles with Amref Health Africa, Plan International, CIHEB, and Palladium, I worked closely with project managers to coordinate activities, track implementation progress, support partners, and ensure compliance with approved workplans, budgets, and donor requirements. I am comfortable working in frontline roles that require close supervision of activities, consolidation of reports and data, identification of implementation risks, and timely escalation of challenges for adaptive decision-making. My background includes strong exposure to community livelihoods and economic strengthening interventions, including youth and women-focused initiatives, group-based capacity building, and linkages with local service providers and government structures. I have worked closely with county government departments, community-based organisations, and development partners, supporting joint planning, stakeholder coordination, and participation in operational-level forums. While working in diverse and often complex contexts, I have consistently applied inclusive, rights-based, and participatory approaches, ensuring that vulnerable populations are meaningfully engaged and supported. I bring solid experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL), including routine data collection, validation, and reporting using standardised tools and databases. I have supported project learning through documentation of lessons, adaptations, and good practices, and I am confident in using MS Office and digital data collection tools to support evidence-based implementation. I am also familiar with safeguarding, accountability, and ethical standards required in humanitarian and development programming. HI’s commitment to dignity, inclusion, and the rights of persons with disabilities resonates strongly with my professional values. I am particularly inspired by the Unlocking Opportunities project’s focus on economic inclusion, innovation, and systems-level change, and I am eager to contribute my field experience, coordination skills, and commitment to inclusive development to achieve impactful results. I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss how my skills and experience can support Humanity & Inclusion to successfully implement the Unlocking Opportunities project in Kenya. Yours sincerely, George Gititu Ngugi Email: ggititu@gmail.com Phone: 0720 887 416 Kenya
