Health and Nutrition Manager

Main Duties and Responsibilities GENERAL TASKS Uphold the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence Respect the Medair values at all times, both within and outside of working hours Know, understand, and comply with Medair internal policies and procedures Follow the Medair Security Plan and other related policies and SOPs Adhere to Medair Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) handbook and regulations Be prepared to work in Lahj, Aden and other Governorates of Yemen SPECIFIC TASKS Technical Be responsible for the implementation, management and supervision of Medair health and nutrition project in Lahj Governorate, in line with Medair health and nutrition strategy and project plan and according to humanitarian, national and international standards. Conduct monthly field trips to health and nutrition facility locations to ensure all activities are carried out as per national guidelines and meeting Medair standards. Oversee the process of data collection, collation, analysis and dissemination to meet the requirements and deadlines set by Medair and/or external partners. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities for internal and external reports (e.g. weekly, monthly, quarterly and final reports) as requested by field managers, GSO and donors. Ensure that regular monitoring and evaluation assessments are conducted both against project objectives and to ensure the quality of the programme, with reports being made, feedback provided and action identified. Provide input into the integration of beneficiary participation and accountability in all aspects of the project. Staff Management Facilitate regular team meetings with the assigned health and nutrition team, reviewing team and individual objectives, ensuring team members are kept informed of issues relevant to their work. Manage and oversee the assigned health and nutrition team including recruitment, day-to-day management, development and training, appraisals, etc. The health and nutrition team may include qualified health and nutrition staff. Ensure the assigned health and nutrition team members receive relevant and appropriate training, coaching and supervision in order to develop their personal and professional skills, knowledge and understanding. This may be through on-the-job training and/or taught sessions and/or online training. Promote the health, wellbeing and security of the health and nutrition team by ensuring the application of security guidelines, health and safety in the workplace and healthy living conditions and practices. Financial Management Ensure that any activities requiring the handling of Medair money are carried out in line with Medair procedures and all paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner. Work with the relevant field managers to plan and manage health and nutrition budgets. Communication and Coordination Represent Medair at relevant local level coordination meetings involving local authorities, UN agencies and other NGOs. Coordinate and liaise with members of the Medair management team and health and nutrition team to ensure all objectives of the health and nutrition program are met. In coordination with any relevant M&E staff, follow up community concerns and issues raised through feedback or complaint mechanisms. Develop and maintain appropriate communication structures with the assigned health and nutrition team, Health and Nutrition Project Manager and Health and Nutrition Advisor, and other relevant stakeholders. Report any security incidents or concerns to the Security Focal Point in Aden.. Quality management Promote and use the Medair intranet, technical reference library and other operating procedures, ensuring that all standardised formats are used and guidelines are followed. Implement relevant policies and standards relating to health service delivery including Sphere and CHS standards, Ministry of Public Health and Population and donor guidelines and other good practice. Participate as requested in Medair internal workshops and distance learning sessions to keep up with changing trends, new guidelines and best practices. Oversee (as required) exit interviews and other feedback or assessment mechanisms, and incorporate findings and recommendations into work. Logistics Manage the correct and timely ordering (within budgetary constraints) of all necessary medicines, supplies and equipment for the assigned health facilities and activities, ensuring minimum stocks are maintained and items are stored and distributed correctly. OTHERS Any other reasonable duties related to the above areas.

Nutrition Officer

Main Duties and Responsibilities Support the management of the nutrition programmes including the provision of technical support, training and capacity building for the field teams and MoPH health care workers. Ensure CMAM and Infant Young Child Feeding (IYCF)scale-up in close collaboration with MoPH and other key partners and that the implementation conform to internationally accepted standards and country guidelines. Provide technical assistance and oversight of CMAM implementation by MoPH/IRY hired health workers at targeted health facilities though On-Job- Training, mentorship and regular supervision with an aim of capacity building them to ensure all nutrition registers and records are correctly done Network with other non-government organizations working in Nutrition and health at the district/governorate level and share notes and where necessary plan jointly. Implementation of project activities according to the project proposal document and log-frame guided by agreed work-plans and as guided by line supervisor. Support the systematic delivery of Health, Hygiene and Nutrition education messages to the target programme beneficiaries and the entire community. Monitor and track all nutrition commodities issued to IRY to ensure it reaches the intended final distribution points and that the same reaches the intended beneficiaries Conduct regular supervisory visits and random spot check to all the targeted health facilities to ensure consistency of provision of nutrition and health services. Monitor nutrition stock levels at health facility and warehouse/s (where applicable) and timely communication to line supervisor to make timely request to ensure there is no stock-out of any commodity at any moment Organize monthly review meeting with Community Health Volunteers and collect their reports and linking their activities to the linked health facilities. Participating in and/or leading nutrition, and/or multi-sectoral assessments as required in our areas of operation as requested by line supervisor To behave at all times in a manner which positively promotes Islamic Relief and its work in operation areas during implementation process To assess the training needs of health care workers in regard to implementation of nutrition activities in all the targeted health facilities and timely reporting to line supervisor for necessary action Provide regular and timely filed updates to the line supervisor on progress, priorities and constraints both verbally and in writing. Support health workers in the targeted health facilities to prepare all monthly nutrition reports, collection and collation of the same and timely submission to line supervisor for review and onward submission. Assist line supervisor in compilation of both IRY and donor reportsto ensure set deadline are strictly adhered to. Maintain good and positive contacts with MoPH, local authorities, and community leaders to ensure their involvement in program activities. Prepare and submit quarterly project case studies/success stories to showcase project achievements and contribution of project in saving lives in your project areas. Document and share best practices and lessons learnt within the organization and with other stakeholders in your project areas. Developing fact sheets as needed on relevant nutrition issues affecting children and women to be used for advocacy and fundraising Maintain proper filing systems and storage of all project documents, reports and other relevant technical materials (both hard and soft copies) Perform any other duty assigned by the line supervisor

Health and Nutrition team leader

Main Duties and Responsibilities Ensure everything is up to date for the mobile team to be operational Conduct regular briefing and supervision of MHT staff. Support all IRC health and nutrition staff related to project aims and their role in achieving these. Assist Health Officer in technical and qualitative performance as required to ensure quality service delivery. Assist in preparing purchase orders; oversee storage of drugs and nutrition items, keep the supply chain functional with assistance from the Operation manager/Logistics officers. Assist in planning and implementation of necessary training for health and staff with the support of Health Officer and PHO. Participate in assessments and surveys, and provide recommendations for intervention as appropriate. Help PHM in conducting regular and ongoing analysis of health situation of the beneficiaries and the community. Apply technical knowledge and skills to implement and/or assist in community delivery of program activities Provide quality treatment of patients according to the local and international protocols. Adhere strictly to the universal precaution to prevent the spread of the disease in the treatment centre. Collect/compile and submit timely report of the team to the health information officer. Coordinate with MOH staff, local authorities, and community leaders in the project area/facilities. Perform other tasks relevant to his/her job as necessary

Medical doctor

Key Responsibilities in post operation surgical word - Patient Monitoring: Regularly assess and monitor patients’ vital signs and recovery progress post-surgery. - Medical Management: Administer medications, manage pain control, and address any post-operative complications. - Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and treatment plans. - Patient Education: Provide patients and their families with information about post-operative care, including recovery expectations and follow-up appointments. - Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely medical records, including patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes. - Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to any medical emergencies or complications that may arise in the post-operative setting. - Continuous Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices in post-operative care.

Health and Nutrition Supervisor

Main Duties and Responsibilities Map health facilities/mobile clinics and identify villages out of reach with catchment population Conduct mass screening to identify quick needs based on MUAC, diarrheal and ARI cases whenever needed Support supervisors to maintain a database of operational mobile sites and villages. Liaise with community health workers/health facilities for needs identification whenever needed. Ensure that nutrition and health activities are implemented according to the protocols and of adequate quality: Organise activities, schedules and maintain triage to ensure smooth implementation and lower patients waiting time Support and guide the team in the implementation of nutrition and health activities including community component Supervise the implementation of the nutrition and health activities and community component Ensure that all admission of acutely malnourished children, pregnant and lactating women are done following appropriate criteria Ensure that all discharges of beneficiaries (SAM, MAM and PLWs) are completed following national/international discharge criteria Facilitate referrals through close collaboration/communication to SC team. Identify weaknesses and gaps in the implementation and propose solutions with specific plan of action to supervisor Draw up an inventory of stocks: quantity, quality and storage conditions; Monitor the status of stocks, orders and exits; calculate consumption rates; Prevent any interruption of supplies by providing early alerts to supervisor Check deliveries; Ensure maintenance and hygiene for all equipment and premises: Ensure adequate clean water supply during distribution Ensure adequate hygienic conditions of the facilities and provide adequate means (soap, water) for hand washing of SAM beneficiaries, caretakers during appetite test Carry out inspections on a daily basis to check the state of the premises; Conduct inventory on weekly/monthly basis together with the team (incl support to nurses/midwife for their pharmacies and equipment) Ensure that all equipment is used in an appropriate manner by those present at the centre; Set up procedures to prevent theft; Verify the availability of clean drinkable water for patients and activities. In case of any problem liaise with WaSH team through line manager. Verify the cleanliness and disinfection of the premises and equipment; Verify correct removal procedures for sewage, solid waste and medical material; Check that all incinerators are working properly; Update a check-sheet for each point (quantity, quality, water chlorination). Identify personnel training needs and share with line managers; Support team members in developing and maintaining work schedules; Update the personnel register; Participate in monthly meetings with the team Participate in appraisal interview mid-yearly/yearly (as required); In the event of problems, identify the issue and seek solutions and refer up to management superior; Handle any conflicts within the team; Verify the manner in which the team interacts with beneficiaries; Provide information to supervisor on absentees or leave of the staff. Ensure that all staff in the team respects ACF HR regulations. Close monitor and ensure the registration of patients in the register books with adequate information. Ensure that information in beneficiary cards (incl beneficiary number) are complete and accurate Ensure that ID bracelet is given to each patient admitted and provide explanation to the caretaker on the treatment process (indicate the next visit). Ensure that every week/distribution day community mobilizer is preparing and providing summary report on home visits, defaulter tracing, non-responder cases. Closely observe all documentation process for SAM, MAM, PLW treatment including IMCI register to identify any gaps of information Maintain weekly reporting for each category of beneficiaries prepared by respective nurses/midwives/registrars. Prepare SAM database information including new admission information and discharge information during every distribution day. Collect monthly report from nurses/midwives/OTP-SFP registrar and prepare compiled monthly activity report for MT service delivery. Submit regular reports, requests for supplies and maintaining record of the beneficiary’s data. Report any security, access or any other sensitive information that has an impact on program implementation with line manager.

Health Officer

Main Duties and Responsibilities: Follow up on mobile clinic operations and ensure all medical and logistical needs are met. Review, collect, and compile mobile clinic reports regularly and ensure timely submission. Support health facilities by coordinating and delivering essential medical supplies. Provide urgent emergency medications to health facilities as needed. Monitor stock levels and ensure proper storage and distribution of medications and supplies. Coordinate with field teams to identify gaps in service delivery and address them promptly. Collaborate with local health authorities to align activities with national health priorities. Ensure proper documentation and archiving of health-related activities and distributions. Participate in needs assessments and support proposal development for health projects. Conduct regular field visits to ensure quality of care and adherence to medical protocols.
