My name is Ibrahima Pouye. I am a PhD graduate in Climate Change Disaster Risk Management at the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) of the University of Lomé/Togo with extensive experience in climatology, oceanography, scientific research, coastal dynamics, coastal vulnerability assessment, GIS, cartography, and remote sensing. My PhD focused on the dynamics of coastal erosion in the Dakar region, Senegal. I completed my Master's degree in Geography, Option: Environmental Resources and Development, and my Bachelor's degree in Physical Geography at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD). With over 7 years of experience in research and data analysis. Most recently, I served as an Environmental and Social Consultant for TACTIS under the World Bank–funded WARDIP program, supporting research and assessments in The Gambia and Guinea Conakry. In this role, I conducted environmental and socio-economic analyses, designed data collection tools, facilitated stakeholder engagements, ensured field data quality, and carried out geospatial mapping of coastal and infrastructure-related risks. Prior to this, I worked as an Environmental and Social Consultant with the Ecological Monitoring Centre (CSE) on the GIZ-SLGA project, where I contributed to research on land governance, coastal vulnerability, and climate impacts in Senegal. My work included quantitative and qualitative assessments, GIS mapping, community consultations, and capacity-building for local stakeholders. I am fluent in both French, English and Wolof, making me an asset in multilingual work environments. I conducted research into the dynamics of coastal erosion in Dakar, Senegal. I assessed coastline dynamics, physical and socio-economic vulnerability and the economic impacts of coastal erosion. Before my work at WASCAL, I worked as an Editor at SENEDIIS, where I was responsible for preparing bank statements and check books. I have also worked as a Monitor at the Department of Geography at the Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar, where I assisted students in reading topographic maps, classifying copies, and monitoring exams. Additionally, I worked as a Supervisor at the market research and survey office (BDA), where I was responsible for map reading and distribution of census districts (CD) and supervision of surveys. I also participated in the General Census of the Population, Habitat, Agriculture and Livestock (RGPHAE) as a survey and data collection staff. I have excellent computer skills in MS Office 365 Programs, ArcGIS, Quantum GIS, Ilwis, SAGA, DSAS, R, Python, Matlab, and Eviews, making me proficient in data analysis and presentation. I have published some research articles which include: 1- Topography, Slope and Geomorphology’s Influences on Shoreline Dynamics along Dakar’s Southern Coast, Senegal Link: https://doi.org/10.3390/coasts3010006 2- Monitoring and Forecasting of Coastal Erosion in the Context of Climate Change in Saint Louis (Senegal) Link: https://doi.org/10.3390/geographies4020017 3- Evaluation of the Economic Impact of Coastal Erosion in Dakar Region Link: https://doi.org/10.2112/JCOASTRES-D-23-00018.1 4- Coastline Dynamics Analysis in Dakar Region, Senegal from 1990 to 2040 Link: https://doi.org/10.4236/ajcc.2022.112002 5- Extreme Rainfall and Streamflow in Niamey City: Trends and Relationship Between Higher Streamflow and Rainfall Link: https://doi.org/10.37628/jwre.v9i1.802 6- Land Use and Land Cover Changes in Niamey Municipality from 1981 to 2021 in Flood Context Link: https://doi.org/10.37591/jowrem.v10i1.7288
