Core Responsibilities: • Deliver insights for portfolio-based analysis across a range of social policy areas, supporting project planning with scoping, stakeholder engagement, and reporting. • Use R, SQL, Excel, and Power BI to conduct statistical analysis, clean and wrangle data, and develop clear outputs. • Conduct qualitative and text analysis using NVivo, Tidytext, and Stringr to draw insights from open text data. • Collaborate with external partners, such as NHS, Essex Police, and third-sector organisations, to ensure that analytical products meet expectations. • Utilise Gantt charts to monitor project timelines, assign tasks, and manage key deadlines. • Prepare content and data visualisations for technical and non-technical audiences, including public-facing content and internal reports. • Apply ethical frameworks, including ODI Data Ethics, and maintain full GDPR compliance when handling sensitive data. • Create dashboards and interactive tools using Power BI, with live data connections via Azure SQL Server. Key Achievements: • Built regression models to identify factors influencing employee retention for a strategic project, enabling specific recommendations for improving workplace engagement. • Led a natural language processing project to analyse Freedom of Information requests, identifying recurring themes and making the information available to reduce requests, save costs, and increase efficiency. • Developed and launched Power BI dashboards tailored to the needs of policy and operational teams, improving access to evidence and supporting decision-making. • Delivered literature reviews and scoping documents to help define clear, actionable research questions aligned with strategic priorities.

Researcher

RESEARCHER (RESEARCH & CITIZEN INSIGHT) Policy Unit / Essex County Council / Apr 2021 – Jul 2022 Core Responsibilities: • Led research projects with a focus on qualitative methods, including interviews, focus groups, online communities, and surveys. • Engaged with the public, including vulnerable adults, families, young people, and businesses, to gather insights for service improvements. • Oversaw external research agencies, handling procurement, setting up contracts, reviewing KPIs, and monitoring progress. • Designed and delivered public consultations, including sampling, survey development, analysis, and reporting. • Collated data to develop in-depth reports and communications to provide insights for senior leaders and Cabinet members to support planning and decision-making. • Coordinated key statutory surveys in adult social care (ASCS and SACE). Key Achievements: • Acted as the lead researcher on major public consultations to influence local policy and shape services. • Established strong relationships with research agencies, ensuring projects were delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.

MSc Sociology (Distinction)

Recipient of the Alf Waddington Scholarship. MSc programme including two qualitative and quantitative methodology modules and a 15,000 word dissertation project in which I achieved a distinction - and a distinction in my MSC overall.
