In my current role as a Climate Change Adaptation Expert and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Specialist, I have extensive experience providing strategic analysis and advisory services in the fields of climate change and disaster risk management. One of the most critical aspects of my role has been working closely with governmental and non-governmental stakeholders to assess policy gaps and develop strategies that enhance resilience in vulnerable communities. My advisory work has focused not only on climate change mitigation but also on how communities and governmental institutions can adapt to climate-related disasters such as floods, heatwaves, and droughts. A prominent example of my involvement in policy advisory services is my recent work on the development of a Disaster Risk Reduction Policy for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). This project required a thorough analysis of the region's vulnerability to natural disasters, particularly floods and droughts, which are increasingly frequent due to climate change. As the lead consultant, I provided technical guidance to provincial government departments, including the Planning and Development Department and the Ministry of Climate Change. Through stakeholder consultations, data-driven insights, and analysis of existing gaps, I contributed to shaping a comprehensive DRR policy aimed at building resilience in the most vulnerable communities. I also integrated climate change adaptation measures into this policy, ensuring that disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts align with international best practices and national development priorities.
