I am a graduate researcher trained in causal inference and applied econometrics, with a strong focus on historical and institutional analysis. I am currently completing a Master’s degree in Institutions and Political Economy at the University of Barcelona, where my research applies difference in differences methods to study the economic impact of large demographic shocks. My work reflects advanced experience with causal inference frameworks, including staggered treatment designs, intensity based treatments, and fixed effects panel models. I am highly proficient in R and statistical software for empirical research, with extensive experience in data cleaning, panel construction, regression analysis, and visualization. I routinely work with complex historical and contemporary datasets and apply rigorous identification strategies to isolate causal effects using transparent and reproducible workflows. Alongside my quantitative skill set, I bring strong substantive knowledge of Iraqi socio economic structures, demographic dynamics, and historical development, informed by both academic research and lived familiarity. Holding Iraqi and Canadian citizenship, I have a nuanced understanding of Iraq’s institutional evolution, labor markets, population trends, and post conflict economic challenges, as well as broader Middle Eastern political economy contexts. This combination allows me to integrate econometric rigor with historically and demographically grounded interpretation.
