Role Purpose
DT Global is commencing a structured and responsible journey in the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across its corporate operations and project delivery.
The AI Enablement & Governance Lead will play a central role in establishing the foundations for safe, ethical, and effective AI use across DT Global’s global business, ensuring alignment with donor expectations, safeguarding obligations, and regulatory requirements.
The role will focus on enabling AI as a practical assistant to improve productivity, quality, and insight — while ensuring strong human oversight, governance, and risk management. The position is deliberately designed to support responsible adoption rather than experimentation or automation of decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
1. AI Strategy & Organisational Enablement
· Support the development and implementation of DT Global’s AI strategy and phased roadmap
· Work with the regions to Identify and prioritise low-risk, high-value AI use cases across:
- Corporate services (HR, Finance, IT, Communications)
- Business Development
- Project delivery and technical teams
- Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL)
· Promote a responsible, sustainable approach across the organisation, i.e “AI Assistants before AI Agents”
· Act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders on AI opportunities and risks
2. AI Governance & Policy Implementation
· Support development, review and operationalisation of DT Global’s AI governance framework, policies, and procedures
· Maintain the organisation’s AI systems and tools inventory
· Support risk assessments and approval processes for new AI tools and use cases
· Ensure AI usage aligns with:
- Donor and client contractual requirements
- Safeguarding policies
- Information security and privacy obligations
· Support periodic review and updates of AI policies as the regulatory landscape evolves
3. Responsible & Ethical AI Oversight
· Embed DT Global’s Responsible AI principles across the business, including:
- Human-in-the-loop decision-making
- “Do no harm” principles
- Fairness, bias awareness, and cultural sensitivity
- Transparency and accountability
· Work closely with Legal, Safeguarding, Risk, and Cyber Security teams
· Support the identification, escalation, and management of AI-related incidents or risks
4. Capability Building & Change Management
· Design and deliver practical AI awareness and capability uplift activities for staff
· Develop clear guidance, tools, and examples of safe and appropriate AI use
· Support regional and project teams to build confidence using AI responsibly
· Translate technical AI concepts into practical, non-technical guidance suitable for diverse audiences
5. Market Awareness & Continuous Improvement
· Monitor emerging AI tools, risks, and sector practice relevant to international development
· Track evolving donor expectations, regulations, and guidance on AI
· Provide periodic briefings to senior leadership on emerging trends and implications for DT Global
About You
Essential Experience and Knowledge
· Demonstrated experience in AI, digital transformation, data, or emerging technologies
· Strong understanding of AI governance, ethics, and risk management
· Experience working in regulated, donor-funded, or high-accountability environments
· Ability to balance innovation with governance, compliance, and risk awareness
· Strong stakeholder engagement and change management skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable
· Experience in international development, consulting, government, or NGOs
· Familiarity with donor environments (e.g. DFAT, FCDO, EU)
· Understanding of data protection, privacy, cybersecurity, and safeguarding principles
· Experience developing policies, frameworks, or organisational standards
· Practical exposure to enterprise AI tools (e.g. copilots, generative AI platforms, analytics tools)
· Demonstrated cross-cultural liaison skill set
What this role is not
· Not a data scientist or machine-learning engineer role
· Not responsible for building proprietary AI models
· Not an experimental or “innovation lab” position
This role exists to ensure AI adoption at DT Global is controlled, ethical, useful, and trusted.
