About Relief International

Relief International is an international non-profit organization that partners with communities impacted by conflict, climate change and disaster to save lives, build greater resilience and promote long-term health and wellbeing. Our team of more than 4,000 staff and local volunteers work across Africa, Asia and the Middle East, delivering Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), Education and Livelihoods programming that creates the foundation for community resilience. We do this by working with local actors to develop safe, inclusive and evidence-based programming that is conflict-sensitive, climate-smart and responsive to community needs.

About the Opportunity

Artificial intelligence is transforming how organizations work, learn and make decisions. At Relief International, we see AI as an opportunity to strengthen humanitarian impact, improve efficiency, enhance knowledge sharing and support better decision-making across our global operations.

The AI and Digital Transformation Advisor will lead the development and implementation of Relief International's AI strategy, helping departments identify practical opportunities where AI and digital tools can create meaningful value. Rather than acting as a technical implementer, you will serve as a strategic advisor, facilitator and change leader, supporting teams to adopt AI responsibly, effectively and sustainably.

You will work closely with senior leaders, department heads, country directors and IT colleagues to develop an organizational roadmap for AI adoption, coordinate a portfolio of AI initiatives, strengthen staff capability and ensure that innovation remains aligned with organizational priorities, governance requirements and humanitarian principles.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about the practical application of AI and digital transformation and wants to help shape how a global humanitarian organization leverages emerging technologies to better serve vulnerable communities around the world.

• Coordinate and oversee a portfolio of AI initiatives, ensuring clear objectives, ownership, milestones and measures of success while maintaining responsibility within individual departments.

• Develop and implement organization-wide approaches to AI adoption, change management and capability building, helping staff confidently and responsibly use AI in their day-to-day work.

• Design and deliver practical training, guidance materials, tools and learning resources that make AI accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Work closely with IT and other stakeholders to ensure AI solutions align with cybersecurity, information security, data protection and governance requirements.

• Promote the responsible use of AI, including appropriate human oversight, data privacy, transparency, accuracy and awareness of bias and limitations.

• Lead initiatives that strengthen organizational learning and knowledge management, including the use of AI-enabled approaches to make institutional knowledge more accessible and useful.

• Manage and support the AI and Knowledge Management Intern, providing direction, mentorship and quality assurance.

About You

You will bring the following experience and skills.

• Demonstrated experience leading or supporting AI adoption, digital transformation, organizational change or technology-enabled improvement initiatives within a complex organization.

• Strong practical understanding of generative AI technologies and their real-world applications, including tools such as Microsoft Copilot and similar AI platforms.

• Experience translating business or organizational needs into practical technology solutions and measurable improvements.

• Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with experience coordinating multiple workstreams across departments and influencing without direct authority.

• Experience leading change-management initiatives and helping teams adopt new tools, processes and ways of working.

• Excellent communication, facilitation and training skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Strong understanding of responsible AI principles, including data protection, confidentiality, cybersecurity, human oversight, transparency, accuracy and ethical considerations.

• Highly organized, pragmatic and collaborative, with the ability to manage competing priorities while building trust and credibility across the organization.
