About: Action Against Hunger
Founded in 1979, Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental organization that fights hunger worldwide. Its charter of humanitarian principles—independence, neutrality, non-discrimination, free and direct access to victims, professionalism, and transparency—has defined its identity for 45 years. Its mission is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection, and treatment of undernutrition, particularly during and after emergencies related to conflicts and natural disasters. Action Against Hunger coordinates its programs around seven areas of activity: Nutrition and Health; Mental Health and Psychosocial Support; Food Security and Livelihoods; Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene; Advocacy; Climate; and Research. Mission :
This position is shared equally between the Forum of International NGOs in the Democratic Republic of Congo (FONGI) and Action Against Hunger (ACF). It aims to strengthen both collective and organizational advocacy efforts through coordinated engagement, evidence-based messaging, and strategic communication with key stakeholders.
The Advocacy Officer will work under the supervision of the ACF Country Director and in close collaboration with the FONGI Secretariat.
Your responsibilities will include:
Contributing to ACF's advocacy activities in the DRC (50%);
and contributing to the coordination and implementation of advocacy activities for the Forum of International NGOs (50%).
Profile :
You hold a postgraduate degree in social sciences, international relations, international humanitarian law, political science, development studies, or a related field, and you have relevant experience in policy analysis, advocacy strategy, and lobbying.
Ideally, you have prior experience in a similar role coordinating advocacy efforts in complex and protracted humanitarian crises, strong skills in implementing advocacy strategies, and in creating high-quality advocacy and communication materials.
Knowledge of the country is an asset.
You possess strong listening, collaboration, and multi-stakeholder relationship-building skills, and you are able to make decisions within deadlines.
You have good management and leadership skills, as well as strong analytical abilities, and are fluent in both written and spoken French and English.
Employment conditions
Vaccination against Mpox is recommended for employees travelling to this country.
Fixed-term contract under French law: 6 months.
Gross monthly salary: €2,597 to €2,968 depending on experience, including a 13th-month bonus.
Retirement insurance reimbursement for non-French citizens: 16% of gross monthly salary.
Base salary increase: 6% every 12 months of continuous contract.
Monthly per diem and living expenses: $1,105 net, paid on-site.
Monthly context allowance: €450.
Child allowance: €1,500 per year per child present in the country of origin (capped at €6,000/year).
Transportation and accommodation: Travel and shared accommodation provided.
Medical coverage: 100% coverage of health insurance contributions and repatriation insurance, and your medical expenses for up to one month after the end of your contract.
Salary maintenance provisions (illness, maternity, paternity).
Leave and R&R: 25 days of paid leave per year. 20 RnR per year; ticket coverage with a ceiling to travel to the chosen break zone, and a flat-rate allowance of 215 euros per RnR.
