Description
Overall purpose of the role:
The Asia Displacement Solutions Platform (ADSP) is a joint initiative of the Danish Refugee Council, International Rescue Committee and Norwegian Refugee Council, which aims to promote the development of solutions for displaced populations in Asia. Drawing upon its members’ operational presence in the region, ADSP engages in constructive dialogue and regional initiatives to support improved outcomes for displaced populations. ADSP is hosted by DRC, currently out of its Bangkok Office, part of the Middle East, Asia & Europe Hub (MEAE).
ADSP is looking for an officer who can support its work, with a focus on the Afghanistan displacement axis. The Officer will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including supporting learning and knowledge dissemination events; helping with ADSP’s convening and coordination role; contributing to ADSP training activities; and ensuring all activities are conducted in compliance with donor and DRC regulations. This is a role for someone with previous experience of project implementation, and a solid understanding of displacement and solutions dynamics, and of related humanitarian and development programming in the region.
Responsibilities:
Support research activities on the Afghanistan displacement axis. This includes supporting procurement processes, the implementation of activities (research/drafting and/or following up with consultants), and ADSP review processes, helping to ensure that all ADSP products are of a high quality and aligned with members’ perspectives.
Support the dissemination of ADSP evidence-based products (planning and implementation) including through public or confidential events and communications.
Keep abreast of publications, events and trends related to solutions to Afghan displacement, identify key stakeholders, and inform ADSP and its members as relevant.
Contribute to the design and delivery of ADSP’s capacity strengthening and learning events for practitioners (including ADSP members), advocates, policymakers and donors.
Support the organization of the ADSP Afghanistan Displacement Sub-Regional Working Group meetings (every other month), including proposing agenda points, taking summary notes, and following up on action points.
Assist in communications with ADSP members in Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan as well as with ADSP partners.
Contribute content to the ADSP quarterly Newsletters with a focus on ADSP activities related to the Afghan Displacement axis.
Provide administrative and logistical support to the Head of ADSP (e.g., SGA drafting, follow up of payments, admin support/templates, reporting), on occasion beyond the Afghanistan displacement focus.
Experience and technical competencies:
University degree essential, master’s degree preferred
A minimum of 4 years of experience working in similar position, preferably with non-governmental organizations or civil society
Understanding of displacement-related issues is essential. Previous knowledge of humanitarian, development and solutions programming is highly preferred
Previous experience conducting trainings and learning events is highly desirable
Excellent communication skills are essential, particularly fluent written and spoken English (ability to write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner)
Excellent organizational skills and ability to respect deadlines are a requirement
A keen sense of interest and a willingness to work hard are essential to success in this role
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required in social science, international law, forced displacement or humanitarian studies
