Description of COOPI in the country
Since 1999, COOPI has been present in Colombia, supporting communities affected by armed conflict and natural disasters. As part of its work, COOPI, together with Fondazione L'Albero della Vita, HIAS, and HI, has formed the URABÁ-PAÍS consortium within the framework of the project: “URABÁ-PAÍS Project: Protection, Humanitarian Assistance, and Socioeconomic Integration for Migrants, Refugees, and Victims of Conflict in the Department of Antioquia, Colombia ,” funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). The project will be implemented in the Urabá region of Antioquia, specifically in the municipalities of Necoclí, Turbo, and Apartadó.
The project has 3 outcomes:
Result #1: Humanitarian assistance was provided to improve the living conditions of refugees and migrants in transit or with the intention of remaining (mixed migration flows), as well as internally displaced persons and the local population, to address the needs arising from the prolonged internal armed conflict.
Result #2: Improved access to basic health services, sexual and reproductive health and mental health, with special attention to the specific needs of women, children and people with disabilities.
Result #3: Strengthened socio-economic integration and social cohesion among refugees, migrants, victims of armed conflict and local communities, through mediation by women and youth, vocational training, labor insertion and actions aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence.
Job description
Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator and the MEAL Officer, the two community promoters will provide direct support for the activities of Outcomes 1 and 2, especially those related to direct work in communities. Specifically, the promoters will carry out the processes of recruiting, identifying, and distributing humanitarian aid (food and non-food items), according to the eligibility criteria established within the project framework. They will also provide direct support for the actions related to Outcome 3, which include training the population and disseminating the awareness campaign.
Areas of responsibility
Project Implementation
Ensure the proper storage, supply and distribution of humanitarian aid kits, both food and non-food, taking care of the optimal condition of the elements of each kit.
Perform the proper registration of the distribution of aid on the platforms and databases implemented for this purpose.
Provide logistical and support assistance in the development of community activities, assessments and field analyses, including the identification of communities for intervention.
Conduct the required training within the framework of the 3 results project, especially those related to humanitarian principles, PSEA, protection, inclusion and disability.
Support the targeting of communities and territories of the project, based on the main objective of the Urabá País project.
Provide support in the development of community activities as required by the Project Coordination, MEAL officer and the technical team.
Provide general support in identifying rehabilitation spaces focused on providing health services.
Actively participate in processes that require training support at the community and institutional level.
Desired Profile
Essential requirements: 45 points
University degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Humanities, Education , or related fields; and/or technical or technological training in areas related to community, social, or educational work . Up to 15 points
Proven experience working with humanitarian organizations and/or NGOs and/or grassroots organizations. Up to 15 points
Minimum of 1 year of experience in implementing community work strategies. Up to 10 points
Experience in coordinating with multiple stakeholders, including field teams, implementing partners, and local communities. Up to 5 points
Desirable Requirements: 10 points
Work experience in the Urabá region of Antioquia. Up to 5 points.
Experience in inventory management and control in the humanitarian sector. Up to 5 points
Relevant skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Sense of organization and teamwork, flexibility.
Experience in using office software.
Respect for COOPI's values/mission.
Excellent command of the Spanish language.
