The MSF movement is built around 5 operational centers supported by 24 sections and offices worldwide. MSF Operational Center Geneva (MSF OCG) is one of these centers.
The Data Officer - Quality develops, implements, and monitors the data quality strategy for MSF Switzerland’s fundraising ecosystem. He/she ensures the accuracy, completeness, consistency and reliability of donor data across MSF Switzerland’s fundraising ecosystem.
Data Quality Strategy & Governance
Define and maintain the data quality strategy aligned with internal standards to ensure reliable and actionable donor information.
Identify critical donor data fields in collaboration with fundraising teams and maintain accessible documentation of data requirements, including data dictionaries and control procedures.
Facilitate periodic reviews with stakeholders to reassess key data elements and continuously improve quality standards.
Promote awareness and accountability across the organisation to embed a culture of data quality and informed decision-making.
Stay informed of CRM and fundraising technology innovations to identify opportunities for enhancing data quality and operational efficiency.
Data Quality Monitoring, Controls & Error Management
Design, implement, and monitor systematic data quality checks (missing, duplicate, invalid, or inconsistent records) to ensure data reliability.
Establish control responsibilities, schedules, and backup procedures to maintain continuity and accountability.
Develop and maintain error logging and exception management processes, ensuring all issues are tracked, categorised, and resolved.
Document root causes, corrective actions, and lessons learned to support continuous improvement.
Data Completion, Duplicate Detection & Resolution
Analyse missing donor data and define strategies for completion using external sources or manual recovery to ensure completeness.
Document criteria, thresholds, and escalation procedures to maintain transparency and prevent recurring issues.
Plan and monitor timelines and workloads for data completion and duplicate resolution initiatives.
Collaboration, Knowledge Sharing & Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with FR Units, CRM Product Owner and Data Management Officer to address structural, configuration, or analytical issues affecting data quality.
Support upstream improvements in donor data collection and data entry practices.
Provide clear communication on data standards, quality findings, and improvement actions to enable informed decision-making.
Share documentation, guidance, and best practices to strengthen organisational knowledge and capacity on data quality management.
Act as the focal point for GDPR compliance within the fundraising team, collaborating with both the MSF OCG Data Protection Officer and the FR Units to develop, share, and implement GDPR-specific policies for Fundraising.
Backup
Provide backup support for data integration processes to ensure continuity of fundraising system operations during absences (short time) or critical situations. This includes handling data imports, exports, and system configurations as per established procedures.
Maintain documentation and follow established procedures to guarantee smooth handover and continuity of work during backup periods.
Education
Essential:
Degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Statistics or related field.
Desired:
Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Data Governance, CRM, Power BI) are a plus.
Experience
Essential:
Proven experience in data quality management, database administration, or similar roles.
Hands-on experience with data cleaning, deduplication and quality frameworks.
Desired :
Knowledge of nonprofit donor systems, donor data, and fundraising operation.
Experience with data integrations, ETL workflows, or operational data processes
Languages
Essential:
Fluency in English and French required;
Desired:
German is an asset.
Knowledge & Expertise
Knowledge of Dynamics Environment.
SQL knowledge;
Strong analytical skills.
Strong understanding of data integration principles, including data mapping, data validation, and data quality control.
Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) and best practices for secure data handling.
Awareness of emerging trends in CRM technologies, fundraising platforms, or data automation tools

Part-time position 80% (32h/week)
Open-ended contract
Working place: Geneva, Switzerland
Ideal start date: As Soon As Possible
Gross annual salary (for 80%): from CHF 69’897.- to CHF 80’486.- (salary commensurate with equivalent experience and internal salary grid)
Paid vacation: 25 days per year, prorate temporis, plus any Swiss public holidays falling within the contract period.
Pension plan: pension contribution covered 3/4 by MSF, 1/4 by staff member.
Relocation package if moving from a different country to Switzerland.
