Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, is implementing digital health solutions to support HIV/AIDS care and treatment, as well as broader public health programs. As part of ongoing system improvements and program expansion, Jhpiego seeks personnel to implement a series of technical enhancements, refinements, and compliance updates for its mobile and web-based health applications.
Software Development and Training
Implement mobile app changes collated from state visits
Update the app’s Machine Learning risk score model implementation.
Improve the app’s feedback loop during sync operations.
Implement client historical risk score view.
Disable monthly in-app pulse surveys as mandated by IRB.
Switch to modular architecture to enable future expansion to other disease areas.
Implement accessibility features in the mobile application.
Implement in-app push notifications.
Deliverables
Implemented changes and bug fixes identified in deployed states.
Modularized codebase supporting plug-and-play modules for new disease areas (e.g., TB, MNCH) with architecture documentation.
Functional accessibility settings (e.g., font scaling, screen reader support, colour contrast), user documentation.
Integrated and tested risk score model based on revised ML algorithms. Model documentation and code.
UI component and backend logic for historical risk trends per client.
Configured Firebase Cloud Messaging (or equivalent), notification service, and UI integration.
Enhanced user notifications during sync (e.g., progress, success/failure messages, retry logic).
Surveys deactivated or removed, updated source code and documentation.
Revised data collection, use, and privacy documentation submitted to IRB.
State teams trained on the use of the Client Management app.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Health Informatics, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in digital health system development.
Proven experience with:
Android app development (Jetpack Compose, Kotlin)
Backend development (e.g., Spring Boot, Node.js)
Machine learning model integration
Modular software architecture
Push notification frameworks (e.g., FCM)
Accessibility standards (WCAG)
Familiarity with IRB processes and data ethics in health systems.
Strong documentation and communication skills.
