Overview of position

The contracted personnel will be required to maintain & ensure maximum uptime of the client's ICT equipment, server rooms with due regard to electrical power quality, safety & security.

Role objectives

• Perform installation, commissioning, and start-ups of single and three phase UPS systems, power inverters and equipment to provide power redundancy.

• Lead feasibility studies, site assessments, and economic analyses for wind, solar, hydro, and bioenergy projects

• Design or review renewable energy system layouts, equipment specifications, and performance models

• Evaluate energy yields using software tools (e.g., PVsyst, RET Screen, SAM) and recommend optimizations

• Monitor national and international renewable energy policies, incentives, and carbon markets

• Prepare permit applications and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulation

• Provide guidance on green certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM) and reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP)

• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (engineering, finance, permitting) to drive projects from concept through commissioning

• Technical Analysis & Design

• Design or review renewable energy system layouts, equipment specifications, and performance models

• Evaluate energy yields using software tools (e.g., PVsyst, RET Screen, SAM) and recommend optimizations

• Monitor national and international renewable energy policies, incentives, and carbon markets

• Prepare permit applications and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulation

• Sustainability Strategy & Advisor

• Perform installation, commissioning, and start-ups of standalone, hybrid solar PV power systems and wind turbines using lead-acid and Lithium-ion battery packs.

• Install, configure, and maintain remote monitoring system for UPS (SMT1000IC - APC Smart UPS 1000 VA LCD 230 V with Smart Connect, SMT3000IC - APC Smart UPS 3000VA LCD 230V etc.), power inverters and alternate power equipment.

• Prepare BOM with standard specifications, plan and perform electrical cabling, both single phase and three phase to connect UPS, inverters, and alternate energy systems.

• Troubleshoot critical power systems performing corrective maintenance, repairs of UPS and solar PV power systems and components with minimum downtime and operation disruption.

• Conduct preventive maintenance of UPS (SMT1000IC - APC Smart UPS 1000 VA LCD 230 V with Smart Connect, SMT3000IC - APC Smart UPS 3000VA LCD 230V etc.), alternate power systems and accessories including all types of batteries as required or scheduled.

• Transport tools, equipment and accessories for new installations, replacements, repairs and maintenance as the job demands.

• Provide training and guidance to clients on basic operation and troubleshooting of power systems installed in their respective location.

• Maintain technical documentation on system configurations and update as and when necessary.

• Must be diligent and reliable delivering high-quality work within tight deadlines.

• Must possess interpersonal skills to interact with other FTS units and clients.

• Liaise closely with ICT technicians.

• Provide product specific training whenever required.

• Be on call or work outside normal working hours such as nights, official UN holidays and weekends.

• Perform any other duties and tasks assigned by supervisors.

Project reporting

• The ICT Systems Integration Support / Renewable Energy will be working under the direct supervision of the Infrastructure & Power Systems Unit Supervisor

Key competencies

Standard:

• Degree or diploma in electronic, electrical, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or another related field.

• Must have at least 3 years of working experience relating to the required technical knowledge written above.

• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office Suite & others.

• Must have a national driver’s license & able to drive a light motor vehicle with manual transmission.

• Must be fluent in English, both written & oral.

Advanced:

• Degree or diploma in electronic, electrical, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or another related field.

• Must have at least 5 years of working experience relating to the required technical knowledge written above.

• ITIL Foundation certification is desirable.

• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office Suite , AutoCad & others.

• Experience in South Sudan is desirable.

• Must have a national driver’s license & able to drive a light motor vehicle with manual transmission.

• Must be fluent in English, both written & oral.

Expert:

• Degree in Electronic, Electrical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or another related field.

• Master’s degrees in Renewable Energy, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field

• Design or review renewable energy system layouts, equipment specifications, and performance models

• Evaluate energy yields using software tools (e.g., PVsyst, RET Screen, SAM) and recommend optimization

• Monitor national and international renewable energy policies, incentives, and carbon markets

• Prepare permit applications and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulation

• Develop long-term renewable energy and carbon-reduction roadmaps for internal or external stakeholders

• Provide guidance on green certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM) and reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP)

• You must have at least 8 years of working experience relating to the required technical knowledge written above.

• ITIL certification is required.

• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office Suite especially Microsoft Teams and others.

• Proven track record of successful project delivery (ideally > 5 MW total capacity across various technologies)

• Proficiency with industry-standard modeling and simulation software

• Strong understanding of energy markets, PPA structures, and incentive schemes

• Desired Skills & Competencies

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills

• Solid project management experience, with PMP or Prince2 certification preferred

• Exceptional written and verbal communication; ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences

• Working knowledge in AutoCAD is desirable.

• Experience in South Sudan is desirable.

• Must be fluent in English, both written and oral.
