BACKGROUND:
African Parks is a non-profit conservation organization that takes on the complete responsibility for the rehabilitation and long-term management of national parks in partnership with governments and local communities. We currently manage 23 national parks and protected areas in 13 countries covering over 20 million hectares in: Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Sudan and Ethiopia.
The Great Nile Migration Landscape (GNML) in South Sudan spans over 120,000 km² across Badingilo and Boma National Parks, Jonglei State, and adjoining community lands. It forms one of Africa’s most important ecological systems, connecting the Sudd wetlands in the west to the Boma highlands in the east. The landscape supports extraordinary biodiversity, including the largest land mammal migration on earth comprising around 6 million animals.
JOB OVERVIEW:
The ICM is responsible for developing, in accordance with relevant African Parks SOPs
and in close collaboration with the AP ICPM, individual but linked information coordination functions for Boma NP, Jonglei Project and Bandigilo NP.
MAIN ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Set up, train and mentor the two teams in information collection and analysis techniques.
o Select and hire of both investigators and analysts.
o Assist during the basic training of both the investigators and analysts.
o Provide continued mentorship during the day-to-day work and operations of the teams in the four parks.
• Develop and maintain each park’s information coordination functions
o Focus analytical work and assure reporting standards
o Supervise collection/investigative efforts
• Supervise day-to-day work of park-level teams, including but not limited to work schedules, human resource requirements and personnel development, and other such activities as may be required or requested by Park Manager.
• Ensure that the Information Coordination database is managed correctly and kept up to date.
o Ensure that all sensitive data is stored in a secure manner
• Develop and maintain relationships with other AP parks, key stakeholders, and partner organizations, including but not limited to those involved in security assessment and the investigation of wildlife crime-related matters.
• Assess material and equipment needs and lead procurement efforts for identified needs of all teams.
Academic & experience required.
1. Experienced working in information collection and/or information analysis required, preferably in a managerial role.
2. Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) and social network analysis (SNA) software.
3. Able to self-manage and understand priorities in a fast-paced environment.
4. Fluency in spoken and written English and ability to write detailed and accurate reports with clarity, brevity and timeliness.

7. Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse cultures.
8. Experience living and working in austere environments.
