Way of Hope to Life Organization (WHLO) is a non-profit, non-political, and non-governmental organization founded in 2002 by a group of Afghan intellectuals and youth with a shared vision of creating meaningful empowerment and a brighter future for Afghan communities. WHLO is officially registered with the Ministry of Economy under registration number 480.
Over the past 23 years, WHLO has successfully implemented more than 250 projects across Afghanistan in the areas of:

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Proposal Writer (Remote) to join our team. The successful candidate will play a central role in developing high-quality proposals and concept notes that reflect WHLO’s thematic areas and meet donor requirements.
This is a unique opportunity for a professional who understands the context of Afghanistan and can design competitive proposals across all WHLO thematic sectors, particularly in Health, Agriculture, and WASH.
Key Responsibilities:
- Researching funding opportunities and donor priorities related to WHLO’s thematic areas.
- Leading the drafting and submission of high-quality project proposals, concept notes, and budgets.
- Collaborating with WHLO’s program team to ensure technical accuracy and contextual relevance of proposals.
- Developing organizational marketing materials, success stories, and donor-focused communication pieces when required.
- Ensuring compliance with donor guidelines, formats, and standards.
- Providing recommendations to improve WHLO’s fundraising and proposal development processes.
- Supporting the visibility of WHLO by producing content that highlights its work and achievements.
- Preparing regular updates and progress reports for management.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of proven experience in proposal writing for NGOs/CSOs.
- Strong knowledge of Afghanistan’s humanitarian, social, political, and development context is mandatory. Applicants without this knowledge should not apply.
- Familiarity with Health, WASH, Agriculture, Education, and Food Security sectors.
- Excellent English writing, editing, and research skills.
- Ability to write persuasively, clearly, and in line with donor requirements.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with a team-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while working remotely.
- Prior experience with UN agencies or international NGOs is an advantage.

Contract & Benefits:
- Duration: 1-year contract (renewable based on performance and funding availability).
- Stipend: USD 500 per month plus 1% of the total project budget upon successful approval and funding of any submitted proposal (remote/virtual work).
- Location: Remote – with expected availability for online meetings with WHLO’s Kabul-based team.
- Growth Opportunity: As WHLO expands, the role may grow into a senior position in fundraising and partnerships.
