The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is at the center of the international response to climate change. The secretariat supports the implementation of the Convention, the Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement through a range of activities. The Mitigation Division, under which the Regional Collaboration Centres (RCCs) operate, plays a crucial role in facilitating and catalyzing climate action globally.
As Regional Lead of the RCC Latin America, you will oversee the workplan, operations, partnerships, and staff of the RCC to drive forward national and regional climate action in alignment with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead strategic implementation of the RCC workplan, including stakeholder engagement, outreach, and coordination with key political and regional actors.
Manage the RCC’s human and financial resources, including team supervision, performance assessments, and reporting.
Represent the RCC in regional committees and events, and support the visibility of the UNFCCC’s work in Latin America.
Facilitate partnerships with governments, multilateral institutions, and UN agencies to advance climate-related initiatives.
Ensure regional intelligence gathering, support to National Focal Points, and promote alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goal 13.
Guide the RCC in monitoring and evaluation, business development, capacity-building, and results-based delivery.
Qualifications:
Advanced university degree in Business Administration, Environmental Studies, Development, Economics, or related fields.
At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in project/portfolio management, resource mobilization, partnerships, or international development.
Regional experience and supervisory responsibilities are strong assets.
Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to lead meaningful climate action on the ground, engage with a wide network of stakeholders, and shape the implementation of the Paris Agreement at a regional level. You’ll work within a dynamic, diverse, and mission-driven UN organization committed to climate resilience and sustainable development.
