Description
The Research Analyst supports the mission of the Planning, Learning and Disaster Response (PLDR) department by contributing to research, data analysis, and reporting that inform MCC programs in the United States, Canada, and globally. This role includes leading and supporting research projects and serving as a co-administrator of MCC’s Insight program and monitoring and evaluation system.

Research 60%
Lead and contribute to research projects, presenting findings and recommendations based on evidence and data
Conduct end of year output and outcome data collection and analysis
Support research and data collection for external grant applications and program reporting
Support PLDR leads with project review, analysis, and learning processes
Design and run analysis requests in Insight (MCC’s program and project management/M&E software)
Synthesize and share research findings with communications and donor relations to support reporting and storytelling
Administrative Support 40%
As Insight co-administrator, the research analyst will work with the other co-administrator to monitor and respond to system inquiries, ensuring timely resolution and identifying recurring issues
Collaborate with the co-developer to prioritize system improvements, fixes, and enhancements
Support users in effective use of Insight, including troubleshooting and guidance
Maintain and update PLDR data, reports, and knowledge resources to support organizational learning and decision making including the annual report on Anabaptist church partnerships and Omnia
Other duties as assigned
Contact/Relationships:
This position requires the person to work closely as a team and to communicate frequently with all PLDR staff as well as MCC Reps, Area Directors and a variety of communications and donor relations staff across the MCC system. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required on a daily basis to share information with staff within the department and to represent PLDR work to constituents and other organizations as requested.
Supervision:
No supervisory duties.
Complexity/Competencies:
Takes initiative to complete tasks and problem solve as appropriate. Communicates with a variety of external and internal contacts and departments to represent the PLDR department. Anticipates needs and adjusts priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, particularly during disaster response.
Independent Action:
The ability to manage a variety of projects simultaneously under minimal supervision is essential.
Initiative and Ingenuity:
Carrying out the position’s responsibilities outlined below requires the PLDR analyst to take initiative to develop work plans and set and meet deadlines, troubleshooting challenges as they arise. While some tasks undertaken by the PLDR research analyst will have standard operating procedures, others will require ingenuity in developing approaches to tackle new problems.
Communication/Interpersonal Skills:
Many projects undertaken by the PLDR research analyst require collaboration with colleagues across MCC to gather and analyze data. An ability to communicate informational and analytical requests clearly and succinctly is critical. The PLDR research analyst must also be able to express complex facts and concepts in a simple and straightforward manner.
Mental/Physical/Visual Demand:
The PLDR research analyst position requires:
Critical, focused thought over hours in thinking through complex analytical tasks. [Mental]
Long, sustained hours on the computer, reviewing and entering data into Word documents, spreadsheets, MCC’s program database (Insight), and other programs. [Visual]
Apart from occasional travel (e.g., to an annual departmental meeting), this position has no significant physical demands. The PLDR research analyst will primarily work at an MCC workstation or laptop.
