About the Chain of Hope

The Chain of Hope is an international NGO founded in 1994. Its purpose is to strengthen health systems to give everyone and especially children the same chances of survival and development.
We intervene in 28 countries with a global approach, focused on the child but also on mothers and disadvantaged communities:

  • Prevention and screening from an early age, especially in the context of health programs at school.

  • Care and surgery, to meet the most urgent needs of children and their mothers.

  • Training and skills transfer to local teams through our international network of experts in all areas of surgery.

  • Construction and equipment of hospital structures adapted to local needs.

Background
As part of its strategy to develop its expertise in hospital engineering, and with the ambition to become a reference in infrastructure and biomedical in the field of international emergency and development aid, the Chain of Hope wishes to set up a capitalization approach. In order to start this work, it is, first, essential to sort and then classify the server.

Post
La Chaîne de l'Espoir is looking for an archivist intern at the Infrastructure & Biomedical Department to support its team in the management and organization of our server archives.

Attached to the Infrastructure & Biomedical Department, the intern will support the Department's activities and contribute to the development of its tools.

The general supervision of the intern will be provided by the Technical Coordinator of the Department, the intern will work closely with the entire team of the Infrastructure and Biomedical Department, volunteers, some partners and the other departments of the Chain of Hope.

Main activities
To this end, the archivist trainee will carry out a number of missions, namely:

  • Continue the development of the established classification methodology (file name, file type listing, subfolder tree, creation of subfolders within a common tree...) of the server for different files: operational within each project / country, theoretical on a database and library, network, on a partner contact database.

  • Continue cataloging the existing by sorting, renaming and organizing the documents present on the server according to the chosen method.

  • As a continuation of the established methodology, collect missing documents, then list them and collect them from partners, volunteers or within La Chaîne de l'Espoir itself.

  • Scan the paper documents collected to facilitate their filing on the server.

  • Monitor the Infrastructure and Biomedical Department on the server's regular update system.

  • Organize internal training times within the Infrastructure & Biomedical Department, first, and with the other departments of the Chain of Hope, secondly, in order to present this methodology and give them the keys to know how to use this server. Possible collaborations with the IT department to develop a sharepoint structure and relevant training for document management.

  • Develop an Intranet structure and finalize the Sharepoint structure.

  • Update of the Specifications on the archive project.

  • Implementation of physical archiving within the Department.

In parallel with these main missions, the archivist intern could be required to accompany the team in updating the Documentary Policy, continuation of the necessary technical methodological guides and the enrichment of the toolbox created.

PROFILE WANTED

Training / Experiences:
Master in the fields of documentation and archiving.

Desired skills and abilities:

  • Demonstrate methodology and rigor.

  • Demonstrate initiative and be able to work independently.

  • Sense of listening

  • Have organizational and adaptation skills

  • Have good interpersonal skills in order to integrate a multidisciplinary team

  • Demonstrate a spirit of synthesis and have writing skills

  • Know how to understand computer and digital tools

  • Interests in international solidarity and hospital engineering would be a plus.

Conditions

  • Contracted internship of 6 months

  • Full-time internship, based at the association's headquarters in Paris, 75015.

  • Meal tickets worth 12.10 euros covered at 60%

  • Reimbursement of transport subscription up to 50% or sustainable mobility allowance (bike) of 40 euros/month

  • Amount of the gratuity: €4.35/hour, according to the legal scale and on a basis of 35h/week

  • Start date of the internship: October 2025
