The objective of the Centre is to provide trusted ICT services and digital business solutions to its Clients and Partner Organizations.
Background information:
As part of the Database Services Team within the Oracle Unit (OPOU), the SQL Database Administration Consultant will be responsible for delivering ongoing database administration and support for SQL Server services.
Main duties and responsibilities:
The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Lead, Database Services team (OPOU), and will be in close collaboration with the Database Services team.
Following the team’s best practices, manage and prioritize tasks assigned to Database Services Team, including service requests, change requests, incidents, problem investigation, projects and other tasks as required for keeping SQL Server database services up and running properly
Monitor and take ownership of tasks assigned to SQL Server database team, ensuring completion within SLA targets
Follow-up on problem management cases including problem detection, logging, categorization, investigation, diagnosis and complete resolution plans
Perform installation and configuration of standalone and high-available SQL Server infrastructures hosted at UNICC or customer datacenters and in Cloud – Microsoft (Azure), Amazon (AWS) and Google (GCP), in accordance with established change management processes
As per established procedures within the team, conduct the following operations:
Collaborate in maintenance and outage resolution with the infrastructure and business groups
Creation and configuration of databases, users, permission and SQL Server Agent jobs
Configuration, synchronization and support of SQL Server disaster recovery environments
On-going patching and upgrades of SQL Server instances
Operational support and maintenance of SQL servers hosted at UNICC or customer datacenters and in cloud environments
Perform parallel migrations of SQL Server database environments
Conduct SQL Server storage and VLAN in place migrations
Feasibility assessment, implementation, deployment and support of SQL Server services in customer datacenters, and in Cloud
Conduct documentation of operating processes, procedures and installations including technical diagrams and infrastructure setup
If and when required, provide on-call support services outside business hours
Experience and Skills required:
Essential:
Four (4) or more years of working experience in SQL Database Administration
Experience in Microsoft SQL Server 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 & 2022
Good understanding of one or more of the following Cloud services: Microsoft (Azure), Amazon (AWS) and Google (GCP)
Experience On-premises and in Cloud, using technologies such as Azure SQL database, Azure SQL Managed Instance and AWS RDS
Experience in High availability solutions including SQL Server Always On technology, Failover Clustering (FCI), and Availability Groups (AG).
Experience in Disaster recovery technologies including database mirroring and transaction log shipping
Experience in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Analysis Services (SSAS), Integration Services (SSIS), and Master Data Services
Experience in SQL Server Replication technology including snapshot, merge and transactional replications
Experience in SQL Server backups and database recovery procedures including the ability to recover user and system databases from failed processes and engine crashes
Good scripting skills using PowerShell and Transact-SQL
Desirable:
Experience with data storage virtualization technologies
Experience with Windows failover clusters
Experience with Linux and MySQL replication
Experience with Ansible or other automation technologies
Education:
Essential:
High school diploma supplemented by training in Database Systems Administration
Desirable:
First university degree in Information Technology or related field
Languages:

Compensation:
Fee will be based either on the National Officer salary scales or the Individual Consultancy band levels (for Headquarters)
For headquarters, Individual Consultancy band levels will be used
