Description
The Safeguarding, Protection & Inclusion Officer at Islamic Relief Sri Lanka is responsible for ensuring that all programmes uphold the highest standards of protection, inclusion, and safeguarding. The role ensures that organisational and donor requirements—especially those related to PSEA, child protection, gender equality, disability inclusion, and GBV prevention—are fully integrated into programme design and implementation.
Programme Mainstreaming: Ensure protection, inclusion, and safeguarding principles are incorporated across all projects, working closely with programme teams and safeguarding focal points.
Advocacy & Policy Alignment: Support advocacy efforts and ensure compliance with global standards such as CHS, Child Protection Minimum Standards, and IASC gender guidelines.
Capacity Building: Train staff, partners, and community stakeholders on safeguarding, child protection, GBV prevention, and inclusion.
Monitoring & Reporting: Conduct assessments, monitor programme activities for inclusiveness, ensure accurate SADD data collection, and document learning for reports.
Operational Compliance: Provide technical input for proposals, ensure accountability mechanisms for beneficiaries, and uphold zero-tolerance policies for exploitation, abuse, and harassment.
Coordination: Lead protection and inclusion working groups, and represent IRSL in external coordination platforms.
Monthly Deliverables: Achieve set activity targets, maintain beneficiary records, conduct training sessions, and submit timely reports.
Audit & Budget Support: Maintain proper documentation and ensure compliance with donor and organizational requirements.
Bachelor’s/HND in Social Sciences or related fields with 2 years’ experience, OR Diploma with 3 years’ experience in safeguarding, child protection, or social services.
Experience in humanitarian or development work, especially with vulnerable populations.
Training or certifications in safeguarding are an advantage.
NGO/INGO experience is preferred.
Strong coordination, communication, and organizational skills.
Understanding of multi-ethnic cultural contexts.
Computer literacy and preferably trilingual abilities.
High integrity, adaptability, and strong commitment to PSEA and safeguarding standards.
Willingness to travel and work in field locations.
