Position: Senior Media Officer
Job Location: Damascus Head Office
Reporting to: Advocacy and Media Manager

The Senior Media Officer will play a key role in documenting SAMS’ activities and impact in Syria. This includes creating content, managing media relations, and ensuring that SAMS’ stories reach a wide audience.
Create high-quality written and visual content, including articles, photos, videos, and infographics, aligned with SAMS’ messaging and branding.
Coordinate media coverage of SAMS’ programs and events in Syria, including press releases and media advisories.
Provide training and guidance to field staff on ethical and effective media practices
Produce written and visual content, including reports, articles, photos, and videos.
Build and maintain relationships with local and international media outlets.
Monitor media coverage and prepare media reports.
Ensure that all content adheres to SAMS’ messaging and branding guidelines.
Provide logistical support to visiting media teams and ensure their adherence to SAMS’ safety protocols.
Serve as a liaison between the field teams and the Communications team.
Uphold ethical standards in all media-related activities.
THE CANDIDATE’S REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory Qualifications required
● bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or a related field.
● Minimum of 4 years of experience in media
● Experience in media relations and content creation.
● Ability to work in challenging environments and adapt to rapidly changing situations.
● Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
● Familiarity with the Syrian context and humanitarian work is highly desirable.
● Advanced skills in photography, videography, and editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
Fluent in Arabic and upper-intermediate in English
The salary will be defined regarding the SAMS Syria Office salary scale.
