NRC USA is seeking a US Individual Fundraising Advisor to help set-up private individual giving in the US market. You’ll lead individual fundraising in the US market – helping set-up mid-level and regular giving programs - and work closely with our global fundraising and donor‑management teams to ensure strong alignment, shared systems, and consistent governance.
NRC USA was established in 2016 with the main objective of strengthening and supporting the US profile, outreach, and impact of the Norwegian Refugee Council’s (NRC’s) humanitarian programming.Partnering with the NRC USA Director, you’ll help shape and execute a US‑specific fundraising strategy that accelerates growth, strengthens donor engagement, and supports NRC’s global ambition to expand and diversify income streams. While your core focus will be individual giving, you’ll also collaborate with our Foundations and Philanthropy Advisor to ensure synergy across all private‑sector channels. This role sits within NRC USA, with a technical line to Global Private Individual Fundraising, working together toward shared income and impact goals.
What you will do:
Some of your generic responsibilities include:
Understand the full return on investment (ROI) in US fundraising, advise on current and new investments, and work to diversify and create income resilience with higher and/or faster ROI. Research, interpret and analyse data to make informed decisions on strategies and activities and provide recommendations on the portfolio of markets and channels.
Lead private individual fundraising in the US, ensuring alignment with NRC’s global strategy and contributing to overall individual fundraising goals.
Act as NRC’s expert on private fundraising in the US, staying up to date on best practices and related regulations.
Support the development and implementation of a five-year individual fundraising strategy for the US.
Contribute to the development of guidelines, procedures, and routines within individual fundraising.
Contribute to annual plans, budgets, and fundraising targets; forecast and report on income, costs, and KPIs.
Build, manage, and maintain relationships with suppliers and partners essential for individual fundraising.
Some of your specific responsibilities include:
Increase unearmarked surplus income from private individual donations. Achieve fundraising targets by delivering income and managing costs for unearmarked funds raised in the US.
Manage fundraising products and channels as outlined in strategy and annual plans, including:
Establishing a mid-level fundraising program in the US market, including acquisition channels such as direct mail
Establishing the set-up for emergency fundraising
Overseeing acquisition of regular donors, e.g. F2F fundraising or digital, and collaborating with Donor Management on the design of loyalty journeys (Salesforce Marketing Cloud)
Assess and optimize fundraising investments to improve profitability and diversify income streams.
Define and communicate fundraising content needs, oversee market adaptations, and ensure publication on relevant platforms.
Coordinate with Public Communications and the NRC USA Director or their delegate regarding needs from global communication channels, such as websites and social media accounts.
Analyze data to inform strategies, optimize fundraising channels, and provide recommendations.
Provide income, cost, and KPI forecasts for NRC USA’s private individual fundraising.
Protect NRC and NRC USA from risks through due diligence, compliance, policies, and best practices in relationships with partners and agencies, using the appropriate databases and CRM platforms.
