Acted is an international non-profit NGO headquartered in Paris, France, with operations in over 40 countries worldwide. Acted's mission is to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to those in need while simultaneously creating long-term opportunities for sustainable growth. Acted operates in contexts of natural disasters, armed conflict, and socio-economic crises.
Acted is currently looking for a WASH assistant to join our team in the Venezuela mission.
The WASH Assistant will provide direct technical and operational support in the field implementation of water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion activities under the direct supervision of the WASH Officer. The Assistant will facilitate the distribution of emergency supplies, oversee the proper use of materials in minor infrastructure repairs in communities, focusing efforts on the impacted area of Morón, Carabobo State, and conduct hygiene promotion campaigns.
Functions
Support for Planning and Technical Design
Collaborate in the collection of initial data on the ground regarding the damage to water and sanitation systems caused by the earthquake.
Contribute to the collection of information for the estimation of metric calculations and quantities of work required for minor rehabilitations
Field Execution and Supervision
Conduct daily on-site follow-up visits to verify the correct use of delivered materials according to project specifications.
Carry out the physical distribution of hygiene kits and family storage tanks to the affected population.
Report promptly to the WASH Officer any alerts and operational risks detected in the field during the development of activities.
Community Management and Training
Support the registration of beneficiaries and collaborate in capacity-building activities for community hygiene promoters.
Conduct practical sessions, workshops and community hygiene promotion campaigns following Acted's institutional guidelines.
Collaborate in the logistics and administration of spaces for community meetings and distribution days.
Registration, Reporting and Filing
Prepare activity reports and maintain up-to-date records, including information broken down by gender and special needs.
Contribute to the documentation of good practices, lessons learned, and success stories in WASH programming.
Ensure that all technical information and component data are properly archived and shared in SharePoint.
Desired profile
Requirements
Required:
University graduate in: Civil Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field with a solid technical foundation.
Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in WASH project implementation, preferably in international NGOs.
Advanced handling of the Sphere Manual, WASH FIT methodologies and technical design/budget software (AutoCAD, Lulo, advanced Excel).
Full availability for travel to communities affected by the seismic double event.
Skills:
High capacity for technical decision-making under pressure and autonomy in the field.
Assertive communication for institutional representation and negotiation with contractors and authorities.
Rigorous attention to detail to ensure the quality and safety of emergency civil works.
Previous experience in the design of contingency water distribution systems in urban environments (Desirable but not mandatory).
Conditions
Service provision contract under the figure of professional fees for 3 months with possibility of renewal depending on budget availability and performance.
Workplace: Acted Office in Carabobo.
Professional fees according to the organization's scale.
Provision of services through on-site presence and frequent travel to areas affected by the earthquake double-days.
