Médecins Sans Frontières is an independent international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, people affected by natural or man-made disasters and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, beliefs or political affiliation (MSF Charter).
Under the responsibility of the Chief Financial Officer, the Head of Global Accounting and Treasury is responsible for managing the accounting department of Médecins Sans Frontières Suisse, the production of annual accounts in Swiss Gaap RPC and the management of the treasury.
Service management:
Supervises and manages the accounting department team, (recruitment, interviews, tests and selections, objectives, evaluations, support, review of work, training, green days, etc.)
Department budget manager (budget creation and monitoring)
Supervision of accounting activities
Is responsible for the quality of accounting as a whole
Ensures that MSF GAAP and Swiss GAAP RPC are properly applied
Ensures monitoring of Swiss GAAP CPR accounting standards
Is responsible for the proper functioning of the ERP headquarters D365 and terrain Unifield. Is a guarantor of the proper integration of field data in the headquarters ERP.
Is responsible for consolidation reporting for the consolidated accounts of the MSF movement
Annual closing of accounts and production of statutory financial statements according to Swiss GAAP RPC standards
Prepares and plans the annual closing of missions and terrains. Ensures proper communication. Ensures the collaboration of the other departments concerned (Human Resources, fundraising, operational finance, etc.)
Manages the definition of pre-boulement verification activities and their implementation
Proceeds with the team to close the entire annual accounts of Médecins Sans Frontières Suisse (land and headquarters)
Establishes all financial statements in accordance with Swiss GAAP CPP standards in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer. Establishes the relevant sections of the activity report (performance).
Implementation and maintenance of the internal control system (SCI) in connection with accounting
Ensures in connection with internal control that the main risks identified in the accounting processes are covered by controls
Reviews with his team at least annually the documentation of the SCI related to accounting. Regularly reviews processes critically in order to gain efficiency
Ensures permanent compliance with the procedures defined in the SCI
Main contact with statutory auditors
Organizes and coordinates the interim and final audit of financial statements with external auditors for accounting-related activities. Ensures the preparation of the documents to be provided
Cash and investment management
Is the main contact, with the treasurer accountant, of the various banking institutions
If necessary, investigate the different investment opportunities offered by banks
Review and validate the payments prepared by the treasurer accountant
Systems and tools
Ensures the proper functionality of the accounting ERP with the IT department
Organizes, prepares and presents training related to accounting during specific training weeks for mission staff ("Finco week", "ACMA training", "Admin training", etc.) as well as on missions
Field visits as well as other MSF sections
Conducts at least one field visit each year as well as visits to the various MSF sections according to needs (benchmark, etc.)
Education
Higher diplomas in accounting (Swiss accounting diploma or graduated expert in finance and controlling) or equivalent
Experience
5 years in a similar position
Experience in fiduciary / audit an asset
Very good knowledge of looping procedures
Implementation of internal control and follow-up procedures (documentation and path tests)
Multi-currendy management
Proven practice of cost accounting
Experience in the non-profit and/or humanitarian field an asset
Experience in consolidation an asset
Technical Skills
Excellent management skills
Excellent knowledge of Swiss Gaap RPC and Swiss legal accounting standards
Good knowledge of the legal framework (Civil Code and Code of Obligations)
Internal control skills and knowledge of standards such as Swiss Audit Standards
Good knowledge of ERP as well as knowledge of consolidation tools (MS Dynamics an asset)
Good knowledge of MS Office, mainly Excel
Good knowledge of Swiss tax law and in particular VAT (LTVA, LIFD, etc.)
Knowledge of cash management and related tools

Ideal start date: as soon as possible
Gross annual salary (100%): from CHF 119'964.- to CHF 134'604.- (salary based on equivalent experience and internal salary grid).
Paid holidays: 25 days per year, pro rata temporis, plus Swiss holidays falling during the term of the contract.
Pension fund: contribution to the pension fund (2nd pillar-LPP) covered at the rate of 3/4 per MSF and 1/4 by the employee.
Relocation assistance in the event of moving from another country to Switzerland.
