Description
Under the overall supervision of the Protection/GBV Specialist and the Line Management of the Project Manager, the ICT Expert will support Un Ponte Per (UPP) Jordan’s Protection team. This role is pivotal in designing and delivering sessions and workshops that focus on self-protection and awareness for girls and women who are at risk or survivors of gender-based violence, utilizing technology to enhance learning and engagement. Further the ICT Expert will provide guidance to review modules aimed at adolescents and caregivers on cyber bullying and online safety.
The ICT Expert will collaborate closely with UPP and partner teams to specifically address cyber violence and Technology Facilitated (TF-) GBV through both theoretical and practical approaches in dedicated workshops.
This position is part of the project funded by the Italian Cooperation Agency (AICS): “Masahat Aamina II (Safe Spaces): Protected spaces for social inclusion and integrated protection of particularly vulnerable people among refugees and host communities in Jordan.”
Main responsibilities:
Collaborate with the UPP Protection/GBV Specialist to develop and integrate awareness raising modules focusing on technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TF-GBV) and cyber bullying into the UPP and partners existing curricula.
Lead sessions and workshops in Amman and Zarqa aimed at educating and training girls and women on self-protection and awareness with respect to TF-GBV. This includes sessions on how to safely navigate digital spaces and recognize potential cyber threats.
Provide expertise in cyber security to help girls and women participants understand and implement effective strategies to protect their online presence. This includes practical workshops using tablets and secure apps to demonstrate protective techniques.
Support Project Management staff in reviewing the list of items to procure to deliver the workshops (such as tablets or other devices).
Provide guidance and review sessions on cyber bullying and TF-GBV prevention aimed at adolescents and caregivers and other community members.
Work closely with UPP local partners and other experts to ensure that the sessions are comprehensive and address the specific needs of women and girls, particularly those with disabilities.
Assist in monitoring the effectiveness of the technology-related interventions within the program. Provide feedback and suggestions for improvements based on participant responses.
Ensure that all educational materials (workshop material, info leaflet) related to cyber security and digital safety are up-to-date, accessible, and easily understandable for participants of varying educational backgrounds.
Collaborate closely with the UPP Facilitator to prepare for sessions, ensuring that all technological needs and educational materials are in place before, during, and after the workshops. This includes setting up equipment, testing software, and preparing content tailored to the session’s objectives.
Provide training sessions to UPP staff and local partners on the technical aspects of cyber security, digital safety, and TF-GBV prevention, ensuring they are equipped to support the community effectively.
Coordinate with the UPP Facilitator and the M&E Officer to conduct pre- and post-assessment activities to measure the effectiveness of the training and capture the progress and outcomes of participants. This involves designing assessment tools, collecting data, and analyzing results in collaboration with the M&E team.
Share a final report detailing the outcomes, challenges, and lessons learned from the ICT-focused activities with the Project Manager and the UPP Protection/GBV Specialist. This report should include an evaluation of the cyber security training impact, participant feedback, and recommendations for future improvements.
To support UPP in representing the organization in radio episodes aimed at raising awareness on ICT and cybersecurity.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
A degree in information technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field. Or equivalent professional experience in the field. Advanced degrees or certifications in cyber security, digital safety, or related disciplines are highly desirable.
Proven experience in ICT, particularly in cyber security and digital safety.
Experience in developing and facilitating training sessions and workshops focused on ICT and cyber security.
Prior experience working in gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, women’s empowerment, cyber-bullying or related fields is highly beneficial.
Strong knowledge of cyber security principles, data protection laws, and ethical hacking.
Proficiency in using and teaching the use of secure communication tools and privacy-enhancing technologies.
Ability to manage and troubleshoot hardware and software used in training sessions, including tablets, apps, and other digital tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic and English.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups including women and girls from various backgrounds.
