This position sits in the CAN International (CAN-I) Building Power Department and reports to the Head Building Power Department and works closely with the Network Development Officer and other team members in the department. The person shall focus on the following areas of work:
Contribute to the coordination of the CAN-I’s annual sub granting system, the Node Development Fund (NDF), and other support funds for Nodes and members, with close guidance from the Head of Building Power Department and Network Development Officer, including:
Support the establishment and coordination of the NDF Steering Committee (including concept revision & decision-making on Nodes funding applications)
Support Nodes and members during the application phase.
Support the setting up of MoU’s with successful Node and members applicants.
Contribute to the coordination of reporting and effective information sharing: strengthen the impact measurement of the NDF, other support funds and ensure this knowledge is shared within CAN-I and among Nodes.
Support the coordination of the payment schedule with close guidance of Network Development Officer and in coordination with the Finance Team, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
Support the management of adjustments requests to existing grants from Nodes with close guidance of Network Development Officer.
Support the work on institutional transformation of node governance, management, capacity and collaboration with close guidance from the Head of Building Power Department and Network Development Officer, including:
Provide support to Nodes in their institutional development, such as:
Work with existing CAN nodes to strengthen and enhance node governance, node management, capacity and collaboration within and across regions, in line with strengthening the model of collaboration between nodes and CAN-I.
Support the capacity building of Nodes, including but not limited to producing materials, tools, online/offline trainings/peer learning and other resources to enhance the capacity of CAN nodes.
Contribute to the coordination of Nodes periodic assessment, engagement and strategically support them and their members on their work.
Provide support in thematic work areas with close guidance from the Head of Building Power Department including.
Engage in cross-departmental thematic pillars of work with teams
Support the systematic convening of nodes around joint global priority work areas and support the socialization, creation and fostering of linkages with work of nodes and enhanced strategic collaboration for network cohesion and impact
Keep an overview of Nodes key areas of work and priorities and systematically feed this information into the work of CAN-I
Coordinate the systematic information-sharing between Nodes and CAN-I in close collaboration with the Head of Department
Support the engagement of Nodes in the campaigns, mobilisation and organising within CAN-I, in close collaboration with the Head of Department
Contribute to campaign development of CAN-I and ensure Node involvement and engagement.
Support Nodes specific campaigns development processes and capacity building.
Contribute to the coordination and support of Node engagement in CAN’s annual mobilisation plans.
Support the coordination of actions and activities in the multilateral spaces, including amongst others, Fossil of the Day, etc
Contribute to developing and coordinating the department’s strategy, plans and activities in collaboration with nodes of CAN and the Head department and members.
Support, as needed, the coordination of Action Coordination Groups calls and processes in close collaboration with team members.
Complete required administrative tasks, and actively contribute to fundraising, reporting, knowledge management and monitoring, evaluation and learning efforts of CAN.
Maintain a general knowledge of recent and relevant information on climate change policy and debates.
Provide strategic support in strengthening “the link between policy and people” in our work.
Keep a good overview of Nodes, their work, institutional status quo and priorities to ensure that the work of CANI is embedded in and informed by a good understanding of Nodes and can thereby contribute to impactful network cohesion in a node-driven network.
Support the organization of online and offline workshops, trainings, and conferences in collaboration with regional and national nodes and/or partners, including the coordination of logistics, content and the facilitation of specific sessions.
Work with the CAN Secretariat in general preparations for and coordination of the network’s activities.
Other tasks as assigned by the line-manager as appropriate.
