The Role
ACLED is recruiting a Senior Analyst, Europe & Central Asia to work within the Analysis Department, reporting directly to the Analysis Manager.
This is a full-time position. It is fully remote and can be done from any location with reliable internet service.

Role & Responsibilities
The Senior Analyst will be responsible for the following tasks:
Analysis
Design and implement original research projects to ensure ACLED’s impact and innovation.
Provide region-specific contributions to thematic or global outputs.
Oversee the production of other regional outputs, while coordinating with the Global Data Collection and the Data Science teams as necessary.
Provide expert commentary and analysis for outputs produced by the External Affairs team.
Data Management
Coordinate with the Global Data Collection and the Data Science teams to support data collection, review, and enrichment.
Coordinate with the Global Data Collection and the Methodology teams to address methodological issues and provide expert advice.
Contribute to improving regional coverage of ACLED data, by identifying new local sources or partners in Europe and Central Asia.
Outreach
Provide expert analysis for donors and stakeholders.
Provide expert commentary for media organizations.
Attend briefings, conferences, and other events to disseminate ACLED’s research and promote ACLED’s work as necessary.
Maintain or establish relations with existing and prospective partners, in coordination with the Global Data Collection and the Grants & Development teams.
Provide data analysis training for external partners, as required.
Project Management
When necessary, manage other team members, by providing guidance and direction on analysis, data and outreach-related tasks.
Support the Analysis Management and the Grants & Development teams to develop new project ideas and funding proposals to advance ACLED’s strategic priorities.
Under the direction of the Analysis Manager and contingent on funding, act as a technical lead for externally funded special projects or conflict observatories in the Europe and Central Asia regions.
Other
Take part in and contribute to ACLED internal meetings.
Assist the Analysis Management team, as required.
Other administrative, coordination, and communications tasks, as required.
Skills and competencies
Core analytical skills
Extensive knowledge of politics and society in Europe and Central Asia.
Demonstrated track record in producing research on conflict, security, and political violence in Europe and/or Central Asia.
Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in government, academia, international organizations, NGOs, or journalism.
Master’s Degree in Political Science/Social Sciences/Geography/Sociology focused on conflict studies, or equivalent.
Demonstrated familiarity with ACLED’s dataset.
Demonstrated track record in analyzing and processing data into coherent narratives.
Demonstrated ability to use data analysis and visualization softwares.
Familiarity with local organizations working to report and document human rights’ violations and/or collect conflict data.
Professional & Leadership Competencies
A high level of attention to detail and the ability to receive and incorporate feedback.
Experience working in a team, under tight deadlines, and with limited supervision.
Communication & Language
Fluency in English.
Fluency in Russian is highly desired.
Strong critical thinking and data analysis skills.
Strong writing, editing, and oral communication skills.
